Louise Nevelson (1899-1988) is considered the “most
celebrated female sculptor in the history of American modernism.” She is
certainly one of the most identifiable, as Guerrero’s classic photographs
show. Between 1979 and 1985, Guerrero photographed Nevelson and her work in an
astounding series of photographs. He captured her at home in Little Italy, at a
cabinet shop, at St. Peter’s Chapel, at a foundry, and along the city streets in
New York City. |
